Ferry Dialogue Session 2022 (FDS2022) was jointly organized by MPA on 11 November 2022 to bring together both regional, port limit ferry operators, and classification societies to promote continual improvements of ferry safety standards and operational safety. It was also held to share the results and lessons learnt from ferry inspections conducted by MPA in 2022.
Guest speakers were also invited to share the methodology in conducting Passenger Ship Safety Certificate (PSSC) Survey and electrification of ferries to raise participants’ awareness on PSSC survey requirements and the possible adoption of battery powered ferries to reduce carbon emissions.
This FDS2022 was the first physical session with the various stakeholders since the lockdown and restrictions due to Covid-19 and was attended by 23 representatives from 11 regional and port limit ferry operators. The session engaged the participants immensely with active discussions in managing the ferries to comply with the safety standards and operational safety, highlighting pertinent points to note during a survey and providing the outlook on electrification of the ferries.
MPA would like to express our appreciation to the guest speakers and all participants in making FDS2022 a successful and fruitful session.
