Workshop with Indonesia on Traffic Separation Schemes + Ship Reporting Systems

On 9 April 2018, the Singapore delegation from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), attended the International Workshop on the Designation of Ship Routeing Systems and Ship Reporting System in Lombok and Sunda Straits and Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA) in Lombok Strait that was hosted by Directorate General for Sea Transportation (DGST) Indonesia in Bali.
The proposals brought up by Indonesia are to be submitted to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) for consideration in adoption for enhancing navigation safety and environmental protection. Prior to submission, Indonesia had invited Singapore and other international stakeholders to share and discuss their views and concerns with regard to the proposals. The MPA delegation led by Assistant CE, Capt. Segar had actively participated in the panel discussion at the workshop and shared MPA's experience and practices in the Singapore Strait. The Singapore delegation also visited the VTS Benoa after the workshop.
This workshop provided an excellent opportunity for MPA to share and exchange knowledge with our foreign counterparts where DGST Indonesia had also expressed their appreciation to the Singapore delegation for their active participation in the workshop.
