SRS Voluntary Experience Building Phase of the IMO Data Collection System for Fuel Oil Consumption for 2018 - 1Q2018 updates

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, in partnership with the shipping community, has embarked on the SRS Voluntary Experience Building Phase (VEBP) of the IMO Data Collection System (DCS) for fuel oil consumption of Singapore-registered ships on 1 January 2018. The VEBP will run for the entire calendar year of 2018 for SRS operators with SRS vessels of 5,000GT and above.
The VEBP will help MPA and the shipping community ensure the smooth implementation of MARPOL Annex VI DCS regulations from calendar year 2019 onwards and identify any implementation issues relating to the DCS.
MPA has received several hundred data submissions from SRS operators and we will continue to work with the shipping community to ensure the smooth implementation of this initiative.
Participating ship types: Bulk Carriers, Gas Carriers, Tankers, Container ships, General Cargo Ships, Refrigerated Cargo Carriers, Combination Carriers, Ro Ro Cargo Ship Vehicle Carriers, Ro Ro Cargo Ships, and LNG Carriers.
The VEBP has been a fruitful learning experience for both MPA and participating SRS operators as we work through the issues encountered in data collection and submission. We thank everyone for their continued support and we look forward to making this initiative a success.
Ship owners, ship managers, and operators of Singapore-registered ships who wish to participate in the VEBP should contact any of the eight MPA-recognised organisations.
