NEXT-GENERATION PATROL CRAFT AND LAUNCHES UNVEILED
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) launched
six next-generation patrol craft on the morning of August 9.
Gracing the occasion at Marina South Pier was Mr Chee Hong
Tat, Senior Minister of State for Transport and Foreign Aff airs.

The vessels replaced the existing fleet of patrol craft that had
been in operation since 2012. They were presented to the public
later that day, when they took part in the Maritime Sail-past
segment of the National Day Parade.

These 17-metre patrol craft have been fitted with the
latest equipment and systems for navigational safety, marine
environmental protection, and enhanced surveillance. For
example, they can carry out targeted enforcement and response
mitigation, thanks to predictive capabilities using real-time and
historical data. They possess surveillance tools such as multi-
sensor marine thermal cameras, chemical gas detectors, and
drones. They come equipped with a dispersant spray system and
containment booms to address oil spills. To support search-and- and port state control inspections, and to conduct checks
