Attractive prizes up for grabs

Registration is now open for the Amazing Maritime Challenge (AMC) that will take place in the morning on Sunday, 22 April 2018. Organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and supported by MaritimeONE partners ^[1] , the AMC is an annual game-based event designed to create a better understanding of Maritime Singapore among its participants and the general public. 

2 The AMC is one of the key outreach events held in conjunction with the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2018. A leading maritime event, SMW 2018 gathers the international maritime community in Singapore for a week of conferences, dialogues, exhibitions and social events. Last year, a record of over 1,200 participants registered for the AMC.  

3 Mr Andrew Tan, MPA Chief Executive, said, “The Amazing Maritime Challenge provides an opportunity for those who are not in the maritime sector to learn more about the industry in a fun and engaging way. We hope participants will not only make new friends but also take away some knowledge on what drives this vibrant sector.”

4 Forming a team of two, participants must learn to navigate and strategise their next move while completing a series of tasks and quizzes that will be spread out all over Singapore.  

5 The competition is divided into two categories – Open and Corporate. Those participating in the open category include groups of families and friends, while the corporate category is for companies from within and outside the maritime industry. This promotes team bonding as well as the gaining of more knowledge about the maritime industry.

6 For both the Open and Corporate categories, the winning team will receive $2,000, while the second and third-placed teams will each win $1,500 and $1,000 respectively. There will also be two consolation team prizes of $750 each. Those interested to participate in the AMC must at least be 12 years old. There will be a registration fee of $10 per team of two (inclusive of 7% GST). More information is available at www.theamazingmaritimechallenge.com  

 ^[1] The MaritimeONE (Outreach NEtwork) is the key manpower initiative for maritime stakeholders to collectively raise awareness of the maritime industry. It comprises the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Singapore Maritime Foundation, Association of Singapore Marine Industries and Singapore Shipping Association.
