In line with efforts to further improve the bilateral relationship with our maritime counterparts in Indonesia, MPA has sent two officers to conduct a 2-day workshop on MARPOL Annex VI in Jakarta. The workshop was held in November 2019 and its participants included harbour masters and marine officers from the various ports in Indonesia.
The workshop covered the recent amendments to MARPOL Annex VI, the 2019 guidelines for Port State Control and group discussions that were focused on the IMO 2020 0.5% fuel oil sulphur limit. Throughout the workshop, participants actively voiced their views, doubts and concerns.
As the coming into force of regulations for the IMO 2020 0.5% fuel oil sulphur limit is drawing near, this workshop provided an excellent opportunity for both countries to discuss and share their views on issues of implementation and enforcement of the relevant regulations.
