Fostering and maintaining strong relationships with our foreign counterparts is one of the aims of MPA. In the final quarter of 2019, MPA hosted two Port State Control Officers (PSCO) from the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Australia under two PSCO exchange programmes, namely the Singapore-ROK Bilateral PSCO Exchange Programme and the Tokyo Memorandum of Understanding (Tokyo MOU) PSCO Exchange Programme.
The PSCO exchange programmes provided good opportunities for MPA to share knowledge and learn from our foreign counterparts. This would promote uniformity in Port State Control activities and contribute to the improvement of safety and security standards of shipping within the region.
