In line with MPA's Future Ready Framework, MPA aims to foster and maintain strong relationships with our foreign counterparts. In the final quarter of 2017, MPA participated in two port state control officer (PSCO) exchange programmes, organised as part of the Tokyo Memorandum of Understanding (Tokyo MoU) PSCO Exchange Programme. MPA hosted a PSCO from the Republic of Korea as part of both countries' bilateral exchange programme. In November, one of MPA's senior PSCO also went on exchange in Yokohama, Japan.
The Tokyo MoU PSCO Exchange Programme provides excellent opportunities for MPA's officers to share and exchange knowledge with our foreign counterparts. The exchange of information and experience amongst the regional authorities also facilitates the uniformity in Port State Control activities within the region, with a view to improve and maintain the standard of shipping within the region.
