The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore organises events and activities throughout the year for seafarers visiting the Port of Singapore. In the second half of 2017, MPA organised a
futsal tournament, a bowling tournament, and several sightseeing tours. We saw crews from different ships and shipyards, local seafarers' unions, and maritime institutes pit themselves
against each other in competition to win the coveted tournament trophies. It was a good opportunity to take a break from work, build friendships, and have some good fun and
exercise.
To round off the year, MPA hosted its annual year end appreciation dinner for seafarers and all its partners in seafarer welfare at the Singapore Mariners' Club at the Maritime House. The
dinner event celebrates and recognises the hard work that seafarers do, as well as the contributions made by our seafarers and their unions in the Port of Singapore. This year, BG
(NS) Ismail Ishak, MPA Board Member and Chairman of the Welfare Committee for Seafarers was the guest of honour to the event and almost 150 guests attended the festive occasion.
