In line with the MPA’s aim to cultivate and maintain strong collaboration with our stakeholders, MPA’s Shipping division hosted SRS ship owners and representatives from Classification Societies on Raffles Lighthouse tours. Participants of the tours were able to climb up the lighthouse for a panoramic view of Singapore waters and were also able to visit the museum that showcased the history of Raffles Lighthouse’s operations.
The Raffles Lighthouse is a prominent site in Singapore having more than 167 years of heritage. Built in 1855, it is the second oldest among the five lighthouses managed by the MPA and has since been serving as a beacon of safe navigation of ships that marks the southernmost point of Singapore and turning point for ships in the bustling Singapore Strait.
Moving forward, we will continue to work hand in hand with our stakeholders to strive to contribute to Singapore’s rich maritime heritage.
Raffles Lighthouse guided tour is available on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, and tickets will be released for sale at 8am on the 1st of every month for the following month. Tickets are on a first-come-first-serve basis. Visit the MPA website to purchase tickets or for more information.
